Braces Treatment Options for Teens - Who doesn’t want beautiful straight teeth? Everyone does! Few individuals are lucky to have straight teeth, but most of us need orthodontic treatment. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children get an orthodontic checkup no later than age 7. However, most people end up getting braces treatment when they are in their teenage years. But early treatment can be very beneficial and make your braces treatment while you’re a teenager a bit easier.
Braces treatment for teens
Straightening your teen's
teeth and brightening their smile will boost their self-esteem to another level.
Teens do usually find it difficult to even hear about the term braces.
Nowadays, we have a
variety of braces treatment options to choose from. One difficulty in opting
for braces treatment is finding the best orthodontist for teens. Dr. Maria
Yazji at contemporary orthodontics is an Invisalign® Diamond Plus provider
nationwide. She is a qualified orthodontist with professional experience in
teen braces.
We at
contemporary orthodontics provides the following treatments.
1. Invisalign®: Invisalign® braces require no
metal wires, brackets, or rubber bands as in
traditional braces. Alternatively, these clear aligners fit snugly
over your teeth. Your teen's orthodontist takes a 3-D scan
of their teeth and makes the Invisalign® trays as required. Every
two weeks, a new aligner will be given tailoring
the new position of the teeth.
2. Lingual braces: Lingual braces are
similar to standard braces, but these are positioned behind
the teeth, on the inside surfaces. As a result,
they provide a perfect cosmetic option for teens, to
straighten their teeth without showing braces.
3. Silver
braces: Silver braces consist of metal brackets fixed to the
front of each tooth and connected by a thin wire. The wire is held to the
brackets by tiny rubber bands that can be replaced. These braces will gradually
force and pull the teeth into position, ensuring that they are all in a straight
line.
4. Ceramic braces: Ceramic braces work on the same principle as metal
braces, but the difference is their composition of the material. The brackets
consist of ceramic material hence more natural-looking.
